Tomorrow is the full launch

For many of you, I am sure, it seems like we have been running at full force at WeRanForAnne.com but we haven’t even started yet. Dec 1st-11th I considered the soft launch. Yea a soft launch. In that time you guys have managed to pledge 8,700 miles and raise over $200.

Tomorrow, Dec 12th, is my mom, Anne’s birthday. Tomorrow I will be giving this site to her for her 57th birthday. I will be returning home for dinner with the family then giving her this site.

I am hoping that tomorrow night all of you will take part in our first group movement. At 800pm EST (500pm PST) I would love all of you to flood Facebook with posts about our web site and our movement. Join our facebook group and start to spread the word.

There will be an email going out to all donors and runners tomorrow afternoon as a reminder to spread it around. Forward that email around to friends and family so that at 8:00pm tomorrow night our site will be everywhere.

I hope you are all ready for the movement to truly begin.

This is me and my mother on the right. This site is dedicated to her and her ongoing battle against cancer. I may be clowning around in that picture but there is no clowning around when I run. This disease and this 1000 miles in front of me and the 8700 miles in front of us all has no idea what it is about to get hit with.

Get your running shoes ready folk because the major running starts in just 3 days.

That is Paul and his mother on the left. He is one of the founding members of WeRanForAnne.com

My Tweets with Chuck Knoblauch

A little backstory; Chuck Knoblauch is a 4 time World Series champion 2nd baseman with the New York Yankees. He started following me on twitter today. Oh yea, I am a huge Yankees fan. The following are our tweets:

Me: Thanks for the follow! Huge Yankee fan. Im raising money for  in my moms honor at RT?

He then retweets it mere seconds later to his 29,000 followers. Fantastic guy already right? Later in the day I thank him.

MeI want to give a huge thanks to  for the RT earlier and helping get the word out about http://WeRanForAnne.com Truly a great man

Chuck Knoblauch Thank you very much.

He actually takes the time to read tweets from his fans, and retweet and respond to people. Could he seriously be any nicer of a human being??

Who Are We and What Are We Doing!

THE GOAL: For people to pledge the number of miles they’ll run by December 12th 2012, and to raise $1 for every mile they run, which will be donated to The American Cancer Society.

THE STORY: On June 10th 2011, I learned that my mother, Anne Hatkoff, had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Carcinoma. That day, I decided to fight this disease with her, and We Ran For Anne was born. We’re a non-profit website dedicated to bringing an end to this devastating disease, and on 12/12/11 - her birthday - our mission begins. One year later, on 12/12/12, we will be donating every penny raised to The American Cancer Society in her name.
